My name is Yohanes Sigit Purnomo W.P.. I am a senior lecturer at Informatics Department, Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta.

Research Interests

My research interests include natural language processing, machine learning, and deep learning technology that is applied in many specific domains, such as computational journalism. My previous research related to disaster management, social network analysis, information technology management, and platform-based application development.

Teaching Experiences

The fundamental courses I taught in the Informatics Department are related to topics such as introduction to informatics engineering, operating systems, computer networks, human and computer interactions, and the development of web and mobile-based services. Starting in 2018, I taught new topics such as design thinking and creativity, machine learning and deep learning, and natural language processing.

Fellowship Experiences

In 2012 I got a valuable opportunity from the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia as a fellow. This program gives me the opportunity to stay for one semester at one university in the US and one semester at one university in Asia. On placement in the US, I had the opportunity to stay at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, from January to May 2013. While in placement in Asia, I stayed at Yonsei University in Sinchon, Seoul, from March to May 2014. This program provides an opportunity for me to learn many things while there, both in terms of academics and ICT governance at the university.

  1. United Board Fellows from United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia for the 2012-2014 year program. The program is designed to answer the needs of leadership development for mid-career faculty and administrators from Asian universities.
